Current Session

Getting ready for the fourth session.  We are excited for this session because we added a few new activities to our list!  Check them out!

Below are the activity descriptions for session!

Monday:

Mix it up Monday 

Always an adventure on Monday! No Monday will look the same. Mondays will be a mix of outdoor fun, board games, comic book writing and much more!!

Sewing Arts with Mrs. Becky Nimmons from Handmade in Southampton

Projects include: Bandana drawstring bags, holiday mug rugs, and owl pillows. These projects will teach straight and curved sewing, accurate seams, hand sewing, and sewing buttons. Most projects will use donated scraps, fabric and other supplies. Class will end at 5:00.  Space is limited and is only offered for students in 3rd – 6th grade. (almost full)

 

Tuesday:

IF YOU GIVE A KID A COOKBOOK with Mrs. Pauline Webster 

Students will have the opportunity to participate in a hands on cooking classes connected to popular children’s literature. We will read children’s literature that has a cooking connection and create our own cookbook to go along with the recipes we make. Students will work together to write a shopping list for every recipe. During these hands on cooking classes, students will have the opportunity to work with their peers. They will learn about proper hand washing, kitchen safety and table manners. Class will end at 5:00. Space is limited!

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES 

This class will focus on outdoor adventure activities. Students will participate in a number of fun team building activities. These games and challenges will set the groundwork for the session and are intended to enhance communication, self-confidence and leadership skills.  All the while enjoying many outdoor games.

Move and Groove: 

Get the wiggles out!!  Children will have the opportunity to dance their hearts out while creating routines to show off to their peers!!  Huge hit in the second session.  The students loved dancing and just getting their wiggles out!

Wednesday:

Smart Art 

Welcome to Art Smart! In this after school class we will be exploring the different elements of art through fun and engaging projects. Each week children will receive instructions, demonstration and examples of a new project that can be adapted to all ages. Then children will be allowed to use materials in their own way to design their own version of the activity or one we have already done in past! We are always amazed with the creative things they come up with!

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE!

What is hiding in the jungle.  Students will learn all about the animals that live in the jungle, what they eat, what the climate is like and where jungles are located through activities and reading books.

 

Thursday:

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES 

This class will focus on outdoor adventure activities. Students will participate in a number of fun team building activities. Fun with Science!! 

– Time to think like a scientist!!! Each week will be filled with fun hands on science experiments. Children will have the opportunity to think like a scientist by observing, hypothesize, experiment and draw a conclusion.

Graphic Novel writing:

Students will have the chance to create their own characters and make them come alive in their very own comic book.

Friday:

Game Day/Legos/Computers 

Games are always fun to play.  We will explore many different types of games from board games to out door games.  Children will also be able to get creative with Legos and enjoy fun on the computers.  The children will learn how to work as a team or think like an individual.  We will also learn the importance of good sportsmanship!  Fun for all ages.

Crazy 8’s Math Club

Join Crazy 8’s Math Club where you will build stuff, run and jump, make music, make a mess…  Its a total new kind of math club.  Math gone wild!!  We will have activities such as glow in the dark geometry, toilet paper Olympics and bouncy dice explosion!

Guitar with Mrs. Scott

Mrs. Scott will be teaching students to play the guitar.  This program will be available for student from grades 3 – 6.
